Student Support and Exec Statement: Myanmar Coup
We, your Student Exec, want to reach out in solidarity following the Myanmar military coup on 1 February.
We want to offer our time and support to students who wish to speak up against the coup and for the restoration of democratic values and release of detained individuals.
We would urge you to read more about the ongoing situation and keep those protesting in your thoughts:
Across the country, citizens have taken to peaceful public protests, which were met with a violent response from the military, including the use of water canons, tear gas, rubber and real bullets.
We stand with members of the LUU Myanmar Association, and Myanmar Students and Alumni at Leeds and are thinking of those with family and friends in the country.
LUU’s advice team is here to support any students who may be affected by these events.
