LUU’s first virtual club night draws a crowd at Fruity’s Big Night In

With the academic year drawing to a close, Friday 19 June typically would have seen thousands of students flocking to Stylus to celebrate at the last Fruity of the year. 

Instead, more than 2000 students logged on for a night of virtual fun at Fruity’s Big Night In – LUU’s answer to all your socially-distanced celebration needs.

Incorporating a massive quiz, interactive challenges and a DJ set with all the classic Fruity tunes, the night proved to be a success – in one student’s words, “legendary! Not a lot to make you smile these days but tonight certainly did”.

Fruitys’ Big Night In was created as part of LUU’s Virtual Union operating model, working to bring as many of our normal Union services as possible to our members, wherever in the world they are.

Students will start returning to Leeds in September, but we all know that the situation remains somewhat unpredictable. That’s why we’re making sure that whatever happens, we’re prepared to put on top quality entertainment and events – whether that’s online, in person, or a blend of the two. Fruity’s Big Night In has shown us that our iconic club night will always be a hit, whether it takes place on the sofa or the dancefloor.
