Get on top of things this summer

Normality is slowly returning, but it’s likely you’ll have more spare time on your hands than usual. Try these easy tasks to get things in order early on.

  1. Note down your achievements and skills developed in the past year. You’ll be grateful when the time comes to create your CV – and it’s always good to give yourself a pat on the back.
  2. For many students, the pandemic means money is tighter than ever before. Use your time to create a realistic budget, and make your money go further.
  3. Detox your digital life: unsubscribe from mailing lists, cull randomers from Facebook and delete useless files from your phone and laptop for an instant sense of calm and order.
  4. Deadlines for grad schemes and internships are often sooner than you think. Get ahead of the curve, see what’s out there and make a note of when you need to apply.

How we're helping in lockdown

Our building might be closed, but LUU’s still here for you during lockdown. Here’s some of the ways we’ve been helping.

  1. The Help and Support team are still available via phone and email, and no issue’s too big or small. Whether it’s pandemic-related or not, our support provision never stops, so do get in touch.
  2. We’ve created a Coronavirus Emergency Hardship Fund to provide students in need with the financial support they require to cover their essential costs during lockdown.
  3. Our Exec have set up a community Facebook group to bring people together and spread some positivity during this time. Search LUU COVID-19 Community Group.
  4. 2019/20 Welfare Officer Amy has also done some brilliant work setting up a Rent Relief Campaign with other SU Officers around Leeds.
