Meet your 2020-21 Community Reps

We’re so pleased to announce your Community Reps for 2020-21 – fellow students who have been selected to represent your voice in the community.

They lobby for action on issues affecting students with a focus on housing and the environment, and get student voices heard on the things that matter to them. They also work to strengthen students’ sense of belonging in the community (whether they live locally or commute) by running campaigns, events and projects at LUU and in the local area.

Community Officer Lotti said : “I’m so excited to work with the Community Reps this year! They really demonstrated their passion and creativity throughout the recruitment process and I can’t wait to start work on their ideas. It’s absolutely crucial that students are heard, represented and fought for this year, and I’m looking forward to seeing the Community Reps start this work on a call for action on the issues affecting students the most.”

Rosa Hibbert

“I am so excited to be a Community Rep this year and to help achieve a sustainable future at Leeds! As Community Rep I hope to bring better recycling to student homes, help build better relationships between students and landlords, and ensure every student is welcomed into the amazing community that Leeds offers.”

Ellie Shipp

“I hope to help play a part in ensuring that the voices of students are heard, and in trying to tackle some of the issues that we face. This year is going to be a different one, but it is especially important that we as students feel at home in Leeds!”

Emma Fradgley

“I’m excited to be a Community Rep this year as I’m extremely passionate about ensuring that every student at Leeds feels a strong sense of community during their time here.”

Chloe Byrne

“I am really looking forward to being involved in Climate Week. It will also be great to carry out a variety of campaigns, including working to reduce food waste and helping students feel more comfortable with the process of renting in Leeds.”

Emily Austin-Howell

“I believe students carry amazing energy and idealism to issues of social and political justice. I am excited to mobilise and empower our collective voice through some meaningful projects, especially grassroots initiatives which encourage communities to lead the way in creating sustainable, liveable and socially just cities.”

Noor Tansvi

“I would describe myself as an extrovert, friendly and bubbly – I have a tendency to always see the glass half full. I’m hoping my optimistic and light-hearted traits will assist me in bettering student life and support, especially in regards to mental wellbeing. I also want to look at the arguably ‘heavy’ subject of the environment, in a new, versatile and modern way, so that everyone can get involved! I look forward to implementing some fun ideas for all!”

Lucia Eales

“I’m really excited about my year ahead as a Community Rep. I’d love to see campus, along with the student residential areas, becoming cleaner and more welcoming, with increased connections between students and permanent residents. Community is especially important at the moment and it would be great to see students getting more involved.”
