About this event
For the first few months, placement can be daunting.
Why am in the way all time? What am I supposed to do on the ward? How can I maintain good mental health?
These are some important questions that many second-year medical students find themselves wondering and unfortunately, the answers tend to come from word of mouth, which is unreliable and often contradictory.
In this talk, Leeds University Union, in partnership with fourth year medical students, we will prepare you for the best things to be doing, how to get the most out of your placement and how to maintain your health and wellbeing during these times.
We will be covering:
- What to expect from your placement and what to do including a typical week, primary care, secondary care, workload, locations and top tips from other medical students.
- How placement affects your mental health, sleep and diet and good ways to cope with this.
- Transport and how the money works.
