1. Listen to the talent
We’ve got an unreal line up ready for 10 June. Roll up ravers, because famous Drum and Bass duo, Sigma, who actually met at Leeds University, are returning to DJ at Leeds Ball. Also making an appearance is DJ Nathan Dawe, whose tracks dance about at the top of the UK singles chart. Get ready for State of Satta, with their 7 piece reggae band or listen to live singer, Issey Cross. You may recognise her voice from Wilkinson and Bru-C tracks. You will be awed by the talent this year, so grab your friends and have a boogie.
2. Start the party early
Yes, officially Leeds Ball begins at 9pm. But why not start the party early? For £3 extra, enter Old Bar at 7pm and watch the Champions League Final up on the big screen. This addition allows you a free drink, the chance to avoid queues, and a lively venue to cheer on your preferred football team. What’s not to love?
3. Watch society performances
Watch LUU music and dance societies. A variety of genres and cultures will be showcased with some spectacular performances. The line up includes LUU Jazz and Blues, The Arrhythmics Big Band, LUU Big Band, LUU Vertical fitness, LUU Street dance, Vibes (LUU Bollywood Dance), and Kpop Dance Society. We are in for a treat!
4. Get your adrenaline pumping at the campus fairground
Hours of fun await with Leeds Ball’s campus fairground! There are three classic rides that are sure to offer nostalgia. Ride on the Miami, race at Dodgems or experience campus from above on the ferris wheel.
5. Lip sync for your life at Life's a Drag
Our favourite Leeds drag queens are back on campus for Life’s a Drag! Hosted by the stunning and hilarious Ruby, the night is set to be full of fabulous performances, laughter and – of course – lip sync battles. You’re not sitting this one out, so bring your dancing shoes and be ready to sing!
6. Belt out some tunes at Karaoke
If you think you have what it takes to contend with our headline acts, why not step into the limelight and sing your favourite songs? We have our very own Karaoke room to provide some Leeds Ball laughs. ABBA anyone?
7. Keep yourself going with our food stalls
All this fun sounds like you will work up an appetite. That’s why we have 3 street food vendors to keep your belly full. Delice D’Ivoire will be offering West African street food. Described by students as “the soul food we can’t go wrong with”, it’s fresh, delicious and healthy. Tantino, our new Terrace outlet will serve up italian snacks and sandwiches with homemade bread and fresh ingredients. Last but not least, 100% vegan Cantina will fulfil all junk food cravings with burgers, fries and deep fried desserts! This is a cashless event so remember to bring your card if you plan on purchasing food.
8. Sing and dance at the silent disco
A silent disco is always a winner, but there’s one way to improve it – make it Fruity! Grab a set of wireless headphones and pick from 1 of 3 music channels as our DJ’s spin non-stop Fruity anthems. Belt out your favourite Fruity tunes and switch over your channel at any time, the power is in your hands.
9. Stay hydrated with our bars
Dancing is thirsty work but our bars will be stocked with your favourite drinks. This year our Leeds Ball sponsors are Smirnoff, Captain Morgans, Kraken, Cockburns, Rooster Rum & Bumboo.
10. Have a go at some retro arcade or casino games
We’re bringing the arcade vibes to campus with retro games including Pacman, Donkey Kong and Space Invaders, as well as 15 retro consoles including Nintendo 64, Dreamcast and Gamecube plus classics like Mario Kart and Guitar Hero. If you fancy some old-school fun, we’ve got you covered.
