How is working at LUU helping prepare you for your future career / Has your work helped to influence your career ambitions?
Working at LUU is providing me with a range of skills in preparation for my future career. Having worked in human resources (HR) before, I had only ever experienced the administrational side of things. My current role as the Learning & Engagement Assistant in the People Team at LUU has allowed me to gain practical experience in an area of HR which I was completely unaware of before.
What skills has your LUU role helped you to develop that will be useful in securing your future career?
My LUU role has helped me to develop many skills. In my opinion, the most important skill I have been able to develop is my cultural awareness. Working in staff engagement, you learn the value of creating an inclusive workplace in which people from diverse backgrounds are able to feel a part of.
What is it like balancing work and study/research?
At times, balancing work and study can be stressful. It’s essential to be organised and plan ahead. As a part-time employee of LUU, I am able to select shift times that work around my studies, and it gives me great relief to know that I have a wonderful network of support at LUU if ever I am feeling under pressure.
