Club & Society Election Season
The election season begins on Wednesday 1 March. Clubs and societies make a big difference to students’ social lives and wellbeing, so it’s crucial that they’re run by the right people. The only way to make that happen is to cast your vote in your club or society’s election before the end of May.
It’s a quick and easy online process, with a big impact. Shape the future of your society with the click of a button here.
Club & Society Election Season is taking place on 1 March – 31 May. It’s how we elect all the leaders of our student groups for the next academic year, and with more than 300 brilliant clubs and societies here at LUU, these elections are a really big deal every year.
Each club or society is led by a committee of students – holding positions from President and Secretary through to Head of Publicity and beyond – who work together to run the group and deliver all its events, socials and activities across the year.
Clubs and societies form one of the most important parts of University life, bringing together like-minded students to have fun, develop skills and find their place in our University community. That’s why committee members play such an important role in helping us ensure the happiness of our student members.
All of our club & society committees are elected by their group members during election month, and any member of the group is eligible to stand for election. These elections are held online on Engage, making it super convenient for students to stand or vote.
Here are all the key dates:
- Election Season begins: Wednesday 1 March
- Election Season ends: Wednesday 31 May
Why should you stand?
Joining a committee is a great way to build your professional, social and leadership skills, whilst also improving your wellbeing and sense of purpose. You’ll be surprised at the breadth of CV-worthy skills you develop as a committee member. From chairing meetings to planning and delivering events, or even managing the society’s accounts, there are so many experiences you’ll gain that will set you apart in future job applications. You could even win an award for your work with the club or society at The Rileys!
If you do decide to run to join a committee, you can rest assured that LUU’s Activities Team will provide training and support to committee members throughout the year.

How to nominate yourself
Running in a club or society election is a straightforward process that only takes about five minutes, and we’ve created a handy guide to take you through it step by step.
All that’s required of you is to write a short candidate statement, outlining why you’re the best person for the role. You can also add an image if you’d like to, but it’s not a requirement. It’s as simple as that!
