“I hope that the network can come together to work towards a change, and do their best in creating equity among all students, helping every student to feel heard and seen.” – LISN member
What is the Liberation and International Student Network?
The Liberation and International Student Network brings together upwards of 14 students who identify with our liberation groups and/or are part of our international student community. There are seven members representing LUU’s liberation groups: Women, Trans, Asian, Working-Class, Disability, LGBTQ+, and Black, and seven members who represent international students. They are supported by the Equality and Liberation Exec Officer, the International and Postgraduate Exec Officer, and the Political Engagement team.
How can the Liberation and International Student Network help you?
The LISN is here to advocate for the student communities they represent. If you belong to the community of our liberation groups and/or international students, the LISN wants to hear from you. How can LUU be more inclusive, representative, empowering, and fun for you? What would improve your student experience? The LISN will both advise and take direct action through campaigning, event organisation, project planning and advocacy, to inform the decision-making within the University and LUU, and contribute to positive change on campus.
What are the Liberation and International Student Network goals for the year?
- Make student experience inclusive, diverse, and equitable
- Ensure that marginalised, international, and underserved student voices are heard
- Help students feel welcome, healthy, and involved
- Create a safe space for everyone, no matter their background
- Focus on equality, accessibility, awareness, and collaboration
