Working at LUU
Working at LUU is one of the best ways to ensure flexibility around your studies and an understanding team, and with jobs across bars, cafes, services and more, there’s a real variety of roles to consider.
At LUU, our working culture is all about inclusivity, fun, and a focus on learning and development. With a diverse team and inclusive ethos, everyone is welcome here. We’re building a learning organisation, and want every one of our staff to be invested in their own development – whether that’s striving to be the best they possibly can in their current role, or taking the opportunities available to them to upskill themselves for their future. Jobs at the Union are about more than just making money – they’re about finding friends and getting ready for your future.
Levi, former student staff
“Starting my LUU journey as a Bar Assistant when I was in my first year completely made my university experience, which is why I am still here over a year after I graduated!
“It was so easy to fit shifts around my studies as there is a good system and managers are very considerate. Everyone is so welcoming and approachable, so I have always felt that I could ask the team for help.
“I have gained experience in interviewing and training new staff which are both transferable skills that helped me with my university course, my current role as a Part Time Assistant Manager in Venues or any future jobs I may have, as well as various hospitality skills like making cocktails in Terrace and lattes in Pyramid.
“If you are looking for a fun and inclusive job that accommodates your studies but also builds up your experience, confidence, and skills, LUU is the place for you. It is a great opportunity to learn, build up your CV, have fun and make friends for life!”
Will, former student staff
“I began at LUU as a Help & Support Assistant and spent a year working in the foyer team whilst I was finishing the final year of my International History & Politics degree.
“Balancing both work and study was quite easy as I didn’t have lots of contact hours and my work in the foyer was flexible. Coming to work was such a welcome change from spending hours thinking only in academic terms.
“After a year of working part-time, I’d amassed skills I didn’t even realise I was acquiring. So I ended up getting way more out of the role which I’d initially applied for just as a part-time job.”

Francisco, Joblink worker
“As an international student, to work with Joblink has been a remarkable experience during my time at the University of Leeds, and there are three main aspects of that experience I would like to highlight.
“First, they have jobs to fit all personalities and skills – for extroverts: the catering jobs, working in bars, coffee shops, shops and events. For introverts: roles in the Students’ Union or in offices and facilities, with not too much social contact and straightforward tasks.
“Second, working in Joblink provided me with a different perspective on the university experience, being able to see what is going on behind the scenes and to understand what’s done to provide a high-quality education and student experience.
“Third, I would like to recall a friend I met working with Joblink who said: ‘JobLink is one of the most positive things we have here at LUU – I can educate myself but also have the chance to do some extra work, so I can go out with my friends, make a quick trip or be able to buy something special.’”
Gergana, Joblink worker
“I’ve been working with Joblink for about two years now and it has been a great opportunity for me. From the very beginning the staff has been very welcoming and I felt comfortable asking any questions I had regarding their open positions.
“I started by taking a few casual shifts, mainly hospitality shifts in the city centre or any odd jobs they had available on campus. This allowed me to earn extra money and get some experience while studying, which can be quite challenging. Taking shifts is also a great way to meet new people and make friends.
“When I graduated, Joblink helped me find a full-time job (they usually have some really amazing positions on their website) and I’ve kept working with them ever since. Everyone at Joblink has been nothing but supportive, quick to reply to any queries and loads of fun to chat with. I strongly recommend going to Joblink to anyone who’s looking for a way to work around their studies!”
Benjamin, former Joblink worker
“Working for Joblink has been a fantastic opportunity to expand my CV in a very short space of time. The variety of work available has opened several doors for my career, and I now work for the University of Leeds admissions team, a role I would not have attained were it not for the experience gained in my other Joblink roles.
“The diversity of the jobs available is matched by the flexibility of the working week. You never have to take a shift you can’t make, meaning your schedule is fitted to your needs.
“I think the most impressive aspect of Joblink is that unlike other agencies, the priority is you, the student; how they can help you, and ensure you have a positive working experience. If you’re going to work for someone during University, make it Joblink.”
