Our Reaction to Racist Attack in Salford

On February 08 2019 racist graffiti was sprawled over Jackson and his son David Yamba’s flat in Salford, five days after moving in.

Your Exec and Natalie Amari, a student at the School of Sociology and Social Policy, will be organising a gesture of solidarity for the family. Before this, we wanted to urge any students who have been affected to seek support through LUU Advice. Our campus operates as a zero tolerance to hate crime campus and you can report a hate crime here. 

Exec Statement

“We at LUU stand with Jackson Yamba and his son David. We do not condone this behaviour, and acts like this in any form are despicable. We need to come together and actively stand against racism, as being silent is not enough. We will be arranging a show of support in the coming weeks, to make sure the family affected know that Leeds University Union stands with them against shows of racism and hatred.” – Tamsin, Your Equality and Diversity Officer
