Jiu Jitsu

What we’re all about

Jiu Jitsu is a traditional Japanese martial art focusing on self defence, locks, throws, and groundwork. Beginners are welcome at LUU Jiu Jitsu and it's a great way of getting fit and meeting new people! As well as teaching you how to defend yourself, Jiu Jitsu will also help your strength, posture, and self-esteem. The club has a vibrant social scene and compete nationally, winning a number of medals and trophies every year.

Sessions take place on Mondays and Wednesdays 8:30pm-10:30pm in the Edge, Studio 2. The first session is COMPLETELY FREE. After this, it's £2 for UoL students and £6 for non-UoL students. We ask that for the first session, you wear loose clothing, take jewellery off and have fun!

As well as encouraging pub trips after every session, we have a wide range of socials that includes BBQs, laser tag, and trampolining. In the past, we've done bigger trips such as travelling to Belgium. This year, we're excited to say that we're planning trips to paintballing and Alton Towers!

Convinced to give Jiu Jitsu a go? To benefit from all of this, you will need to purchase membership by clicking the 'Join Us' button. Membership costs £5, and this covers you for training throughout the year, access to The Edge, and discounts to all of our club events.
