Meetings
Please do not buy the membership for the casual meetings, they are completely free to attend!
We meet twice a week, casual meetings on Mondays which have a more relaxed format and competition meetings on Wednesdays in which we use the BP style of debating. The Wednesday sessions are aimed at people who want to debate competitively and if you attend the competition sessions you may also be able to attend competitions in other universities around the UK. Even if you are a complete beginner you are still welcome to try competitive debating, however we would also recommend trying out the casual meetings first to see which you prefer.
You do not need any previous debating experience to attend any of our meetings, committee members are always present to provide help especially to newcomers. Casual meetings are free to attend, whereas the competition meetings usually require a £10 membership because of the competition fee, if you do decide to attend any competitions. However, as no competitions are being held now, you are free to come to any sessions you want for free.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, we are currently holding all our meetings online, mostly through Google Meet. All the details on how the online meetings work, as well as the links to the Google Meet calls, are or will be posted to our Facebook Page, but do not hesitate in contacting us through Email or Facebook Messenger if you have any questions! Both meetings usually take place at 6:30 pm.
Socials
Due to safety reasons related to the pandemic, we are not holding in-person socials in the first term of the 2020/2021 academic year, but we are holding plenty of fun socials online! All the events and their details will be posted to our Facebook Page.
Collaboration
If you are another society who wishes to collaborate on an event then please do not hesitate to contact us at luudebate@gmail.com or on our Facebook page.
