Woodhouse Moor, Queen Victoria Statue

Price: Free

This Saturday is the Reclaim the Night Annual March. Our Officers, alongside those at Leeds Beckett have been supporting Reclaim the Night and other student groups to organise this march against gender-based violence. It’s the 44th march of its kind. To join, meet the group at the Queen Victoria statue in Woodhouse Moor at 9pm before proceeding through the city. There’ll also be an after party at LUU from 11pm, with a theme of female empowerment pop, disco and funk. We especially want to encourage marginalised groups and allies to attend as we create a welcoming environment that’s free from fear. Equality and Liberation Officer Natasha Fowler-Ekar commented: “The last two years have shown the ever-increasing need for women’s and vulnerable groups’ voices to be heard. Our march has always been a place to express your voices, whether they be angry or hurt. WE WANT EVERYONE TO BE HEARD! The violence in our streets, in our homes, in our places of work and in our schools has only increased in the last year, and we demand action. True action. From our politicians, our councillors, from our police.”
