Johnny flees Manchester for London, to avoid a beating from the family of a girl he has raped. There he finds an old girlfriend, and heads out into the grey London streets, spending much of his time ranting at strangers, and meeting characters in plights very much like his own. Powerful and not without it's own grim humour, it's also a bleak, divisive and difficult film - Naked is the opposite black as pitch companion to Leigh's previous film Life is Sweet (1993). The film has been newly remastered and part of a UK-wide BFI retrospective of Mike Leigh's work
