John Krasinski returns to the directing chair to bring us the sequel to 2018’s horror hit.
After barely surviving a showdown with sharp-eared alien creatures, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and her three children partner with neighbour and fellow survivor, Emmett (Cillian Murphy) to hunt for a haven in a world holding its breath.
The film begins with a brief prelude to the previous film, giving us an insight into how humanity spiralled down into terrified silence. This disastrous descent manages to crank up the tension almost immediately, and from there a dual narrative that intertwines and paces itself wonderfully drags us along from one chilling moment to the next.
Following-up on a refreshingly novel and ingenious first instalment, A Quiet Place Part II is a satisfying and compelling sequel that delivers on scares and story both.
