A cross-cultural discussion comparing attitudes to sustainability in China and the UK, organised by the Business Confucius Institute and Leeds University Business School. Come along and join the conversation!
This discussion for Climate Week will bring together members of our University community to consider the similarities and differences between ‘green’ attitudes and behaviours in China and the UK, and whether Study Abroad affects our habits.
Roger Tyers from Nottingham University will join us to introduce his recent research paper, ‘Barriers to enduring pro-environmental behaviour change among Chinese students returning home from the UK: a social practice perspective’.
A panel of students and alumni from China and the UK will respond to key themes raised and we will encourage interaction from the audience via polls and chat. We hope everyone will leave this conversation with a deeper understanding of our similarities and differences and how we can work together to make a positive impact both in China and the UK.
Dr Roger Tyers is a Teaching Associate in Sociology and Social Policy at the University of Nottingham, and a Visiting Fellow at the University of Southampton. His research interests are on behaviour change and public policy, especially regarding sustainability, transport and energy. His research has been featured in a range of outlets including The Guardian, Wall Street Times, The Independent, and The Sunday Times.
