According to AGCAS, disabled graduates are more likely to be unemployed and more likely to be in part-time or unpaid work than non-disabled graduates. Amongst all disabled graduates, those with neurodivergent conditions such as Dyslexia, Autism, ADHD, Dyspraxia and other neurological conditions are the worst off.
We want to try and close this employment gap by giving neurodiverse students tools to realise their potential whilst changing public perceptions about their supposed “unemployability”.*
In this session, run in collaboration with the LUU Neurodivergent Society, you can:
– Air your concerns about entering the job market with neurodiversity
– Share past experiences (both positive and negative) in employment, volunteering, making applications etc.
– Discuss what neurodiverse candidates can bring to a company (celebrating neurodiversity in the workplace)
– Talk about the support neurodiverse students and graduates need to boost their employability and further their careers
There will also be a presentation from the Widening Participation team at the Careers Service on what support is available and how to disclose your condition.
*Non-disabled students are more than welcome to attend the event to listen or join in the conversation.
