About this event
*This event has been postponed*
Thanks so much for your interest in 'How to Escape the Academy', due to be held this evening.
Unfortunately, a number of our speakers have had to pull out of the event at short notice and we've been unable to find suitable alternatives. In order to ensure that we can host something with a panel that can discuss a broad range of options, experiences and career pathways we have made a decision to postpone the event.
Details of a rearranged event will be circulated in the next few days and we anticipate rescheduling for a date ion the first half of June.
We're sorry for doing this and hope that you understand.
Conversations with Leeds doctoral alumni who do something different.
We know as well as you do that fewer doctoral graduates than ever before end up in academic careers, but that doesn't have to be a bad thing. Your degree will provide you with the skills for an incredible breadth of other careers too.
We're welcoming a range of alumni over two nights - one group who earned their PhDs in arts, humanities, and social sciences and one with backgrounds in STEM disciplines. They'll tell you about the decisions they made, the skills they found most useful, and the careers they've found themselves in before responding to any questions you have. There'll be further opportunities for informal conversations in the Pyramid Canteen afterwards too.
STEM - Wednesday 22 May
Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences - Thursday 23 May
