Mind Matters Society present a day of events designed to highlight challenges to mental health that may be experienced in the student community. We also have some sessions to teach wellbeing practices and ways to help others in need.
1130-1230, location TBC:
We kick off with an energising yoga session designed to aid relaxation and reflection. Expert teaching provided by Chelsey from InnerSense Guru.
1300-1400, Rupert Beckett Lecture Theatre (Michael Sadler Building):
We’ll be in conversation with Jada Sezer, accomplished model and advocate for YoungMinds charity. Topics to be discussed include the pressures of social media, self-esteem and positive body image, amongst others. Check Jada out on YouTube and please message LUU Mind Matters Society on Facebook with any burning questions!
1400-1500, Rupert Beckett Lecture Theatre (Michael Sadler Building):
Stevie Ward of Leeds Rhinos and founder of Mantality Magazine will speak about the stigma surrounding mental health in sport and what he’s doing to tackle it. Stevie works closely with sports teams at the University of Leeds and his work is already having a massive impact. Join us to find out how!
1500-1600, location TBC:
We’ll be rounding off the day with some help from our friends at Nightline who will run a listening session to teach us how we can support friends in need.
Join us for as many or as few sessions as you’d like – they are all free of charge and everyone is welcome, including non-students so let your friends from outside uni know! Updates on rooms and any other announcements will be available on our Facebook (LUU Mind Matters Society).
