About this event
The waterfalls at Aysgarth have been a popular attraction since the early 19th century, when the poet Wordsworth used to visit. Turner and Ruskin have painted the falls and they were even the setting for a fight scene in the Hollywood film Robin Hood - Prince of Thieves.
Option 1 - we will lead a circular 12km walk from the National Park Centre at Aysgarth in Wensleydale taking in three flights of waterfalls. A woodland section is then followed to head on to the ruins and gardens at Bolton Castle before returning back to Aysgarth via Carperby.
Option 2 - will be a shorter 5km route option visiting the waterfalls.
We will only be opting for one of these routes based on the one that receives more number of votes (on the day of event)
We would like to emphasise the need for good outdoor walking shoes or boots plus a full body layer of waterproof clothing. The conditions underfoot can be very wet and sometimes muddy so please wear footwear you don't mind getting dirty so please bring a spare pair of shoes for afterwards.
A final details email will be sent out on the Thursday before.
