Closing Date: Monday 8 April 2019

Leeds University Union (LUU) is a forward-thinking organisation serving the 38,000 students at the University of Leeds. Vibrant, diverse and student-led, LUU is an exemplar of best practice and exists to enable students to make the most of their time at Leeds. LUU operates a wide range of services and opportunities from clubs and societies, to large scale events, spaces to eat, drink and meet, engage, campaign and learn.

As a charity, we are led by a trustee board which includes 6 elected student officers, supported by over 150 full-time staff members, 500 student members of staff and hundreds of dedicated volunteers.

Recently we underwent a significant ‘Union Upgrade’, comprising a £20 Million investment in our physical spaces and are constantly looking to improve and innovate – we never stand still. We have also entered into a franchise agreement with Co-Op retail and new tenants have been established to broaden our offer even further. Students are involved at every step of our commercial development and in this way we continue to be at the forefront of meeting their changing and diverse needs.

As we enter the second year of an ambitious strategic plan we are looking to welcome a Deputy Chief Executive (Operations) who will ensure greater impact on students and contribute to our senior leadership team. This role will take forward the development and delivery of our commercial services and facilities, balancing both the need to drive income and deliver the best possible service for all customers.

This is an important, demanding and varied role, comprising managing tenancies, facilities management and developing commercial operations. We are looking for individuals who have a strong track record of leading improved commercial performance in a senior, multi-disciplinary commercial operations role. We are open-minded about background, but if you have some understanding of the youth market this would be preferable. You must be customer focused, collaborative in your approach and able to innovate, taking things from concept to impactful delivery. We would also like to see success in working in partnership with others and you will possess the credibility and gravitas to engage with a wide range of stakeholders across the university, the union and within our broader community.

You will be an enabling and performance oriented leader and bring a commitment to putting students at the heart of decision making.

If you want a role which offers huge scope to innovate, drive development in partnership with others and continue to elevate and enhance our offer, then please go to our dedicated microsite:
