What we’re all about
Leeds Universities St John Ambulance Society (LUSJAS) train students in first aid, an invaluable life skill. In our society you'll gain the confidence and ability to help people in need. You’ll also have the opportunity to volunteer as a first aider, providing cover at events in the university and local community. Our vibrant social scene will allow you to relax, make new friends and share your experiences with other members. Join us at our weekly meetings to find out more!
Each week our training session covers a different first aid topic, such as bandaging or CPR. After attending 10 sessions you can receive a certificate of recognition from the society. Members interested in volunteering can apply to undertake a formal course to become a fully qualified first aider.
We run two sessions per week: one for qualified St. John Ambulance first aiders and one for all students interested in learning first aid.
Thursday 6.30-7.45pm: operational members (SJA volunteers)
Thursday 8-9pm: society members (open to all students)
PLEASE NOTE: The first society session of the year (September 26th) runs from 7.30-9pm
Most sessions take place in room 6 of LUU - please check our Facebook page for individual event information.
LUSJAS socials are all about spending quality time with the team and letting our hair down! From trampolining and pub crawls to ice skating and meals out, we've got so many exciting things planned for the year ahead, including our weekend away and Christmas extravaganza. Hope to see you there!
New members are welcome to attend their first 3 sessions for free, a perfect opportunity to come along and see what we’re about! After this, members pay a £5 per year membership fee which covers all weekly sessions & allows attendance to our exciting socials.
Our GIAG will be held on Thursday 21st November 2019 at 6pm in Room 6 of LUU - come along if you're interested in joining and finding out more about what we do!
