What we’re all about
ShockSoc - the Electronic and Electrical Engineering Society, is open to all undergraduates and postgraduates on relevant courses as well as hobbyists.
What we offer:
Robot Fighting League
Robot Fighting League is a Robot Wars style event, three times a year, open to anybody, who wants to try building fighting robots!
Open lab sessions
We host open lab session every week, in one of the ELEC labs. (Precise time and place to be announced) This allows members to catch up on their university projects, or experiment with their own ideas. This space also holds regular workshops, mainly centered around Robot Fighting League.
Although mostly intended for first years, we welcome any member, regardless of year. All we ask from higher year students is that they are willing to help others with their projects.
We run highly successful monthly socials, like our freshers Otley Run, or our end of exam socials. Exact calendar of all our events are coming soon.
We organise larger trips twice a year; previous locations include locations like CERN and Geneva. Further details to be announced.
We are also working on smaller, local trips.
We have a 5-a-side and 11-a-side football team in the university league. We also have hockey training sessions and friendly matches (since there's no hockey league). We are currently working on having a dodgeball team.
