What we’re all about
Quidditch is the world's only gender inclusive, full-contact sport. It pits two teams of seven players against each other in a sport with elements of rugby, dodgeball and basketball. Ranked 16th in the country, Leeds Griffins welcome new players from all backgrounds. For more information on the Quidditch rules and positions see the US Quidditch website or Quidditch UK.
Not at all! Quidditch as a sport has very little to do with the world of Harry Potter, and although many of our members are fans, we also have many who aren't. You just have to be interested and open-minded in trying a new, fun, inclusive sport!
Nope! We welcome anyone and everyone regardless of sporting experience, and we'd love the chance to teach you how to play. There are many positions in Quidditch that cater to many play styles, so it's guaranteed that at least one will suit you!
We train on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 1pm-4pm on Woodhouse Moor. We suggest you bring along water, layers (fleece, waterproof, etc), and studded shoes (trainers are fine, but studs make running a lot easier!). We usually meet at 12:30pm at the Student Union to collect equipment.
We're a very active society with regular weekly socials of all kinds and occasional trips abroad, such as our 2018 trip to Florence to the Quidditch World Cup.
Our membership costs only £15 for the year. This gives you access to all of our socials and to all our training sessions.
