Your Student Exec have campaigned for and secured funding from the University to cover the costs of graduation.
This summer, any students who may have been unable to go to their graduations because they couldn’t afford it, will now get that added support on their big day.
The funding can be accessed by any student who needs the financial support to cover the cost of anything from photos, gown hire, travel or overnight accommodation.
Any student who could use this financial support will need to visit the Help and Support team in the Foyer of Leeds University Union as soon as they find out their results, or request a form through firstname.lastname@example.org. The LUU Advice team will assess the student’s circumstances and provide the money by Thursday 25 July.
The campaign to cover the costs of graduation is part of the Union policy ‘Graduation Fees Should be Scrapped’ which passed at the Better University Forum in 2017. Since then we've been working to make this possible. From lobbying the University to bring this issue to their attention, to securing this funding. We will continue to work hard towards scrapping graduation fees.
If you've already paid for our gown, don't worry we can still support you, just get in touch.
If you have an idea you’d like us to campaign on you can submit it to go to our forums here.
See you at graduation,
Serene & Chris
