Campus Goes Smoke Free

Campus Goes Smoke Free

Campus

From today (01 August) campus will be smoke-free in an aim to help people to live a healthier lifestyle and cut out harmful habits.

Your Union is supporting the University in promising to create a smoke free campus as part of a city-wide ambition to create a smoke free generation by 2025.

Lauren Huxley, your Union Affairs Officer said: “I’m really pleased and proud to say that LUU will be supporting the move to a smoke free campus. Not only will it provide a cleaner and healthier atmosphere, it will also encourage people to seek healthier lifestyles for themselves. I’m hoping it will bring about positive change to our members’ lives. If you’re a student who’d like to reduce or stop smoking, LUU Advice are here to help you.”

Between 8am-6pm everyday people are asked not to smoke anywhere on campus. This includes main campus, western campus, Fairbairn House, all University-owned sports fields and all University-owned accommodation. Vaping will still be able allowed at this time, although, as usual, you will not be able to vape inside University buildings or their entrances.

If you would like support in quitting or cutting down on your smoking habit LUU Advice are happy to help. Please pop in and see them anytime in the Union Foyer. You can also find out more information on quitting smoking here.

You can read the Smoking Policy and get answers to any of your questions by reading the University’s Smokefree information here.
