It’s obviously really important stuff, but there are plenty of other reasons why you should consider nominating yourself.
Firstly, it’ll provide endless networking and social opportunities as you meet fellow delegates and activists, officers, reps, and more – there’s no better way to establish yourself within the student activist movement, or just to make friends across the UK. Debating such important topics is also a brilliant way to develop CV-boosting transferable skills like persuasion, public speaking, and confidence, and it’s a really enriching environment to be in outside of your day-to-day life on campus.
Beyond that, it’ll provide you a chance to spend a couple of days in Liverpool (with all your accommodation and travel costs covered!) – and it’s much less of a time commitment than you might think. It’s definitely doable alongside your study and social life – but perhaps you’ll need to book a couple of days off work!
There are loads of you here at LUU, which is why we have one of the largest delegations out of all the UK universities. And because of that our student members really do come from all walks of life. We’d love for this diversity to be reflected in the LUU Delegation – whether you’re a mature student, PhD researcher, brand new first-year, commuter student, international student, or ordinarily-disengaged-but-annoyed-after-the-past-year student – your voice matters, and we want to hear from you.
