Case study #1: a student experiencing financial hardship due to Covid-19
A female postgraduate student from the UK was supported by LUU using our Emergency Hardship Fund when she was unexpectedly made redundant due to the pandemic. Like many students, this student relied on her part time job to make ends meet, and losing her income just before a deadline caused her feelings of panic and distress.
LUU was able to cover her rent and bills using the Emergency Hardship Fund until she found new employment, easing her feelings of panic.
The student said the Union “sympathised in a way [she] never expected”, and credited the support she received for her ability to continue her studies.
