What we’re all about
We are a brand new society in aid of The British Heart Foundation and we are joining in with their aim to “Beat Heartbreak Forever”! Cardiovascular disease affects all age groups, including young people and students, and we want to raise awareness of the risks most common to us, raise funds for the BHF so they can continue funding lifesaving research, and widen participation in CPR training here on campus.
We are looking to hold regular CPR training sessions on campus as the bystander CPR is very low here in Yorkshire. These will be short interactive sessions which will equip you with the basic skills of CPR and the confidence to use them. Attendees will receive certificates and reminder cards.
Our committee meet on Mondays from 5-6pm to plan events and campaigns. All members are welcome to email committee with any ideas they have for events, to volunteer to help us organise events, and to ask for help with promoting individual fundraising challenges for the BHF.
We will be holding monthly informal social events with a fundraising twist! This year you can expect bake sales, raffles, pub quizzes, a big challenge event (to be announced very shortly!) and lots more! Watch this space!
Our membership fee is FREE and ALWAYS will be, as we don’t believe financial commitment should be a barrier to volunteering and fundraising! We are keen to be as inclusive as possible and EVERYBODY is welcome. We promise that there will be events suitable for everyone to get involved in!
