What we’re all about
Bhangra is a colourful and energetic Punjabi dance form traditionally performed at festivals and celebrations. We bring our enthusiasm and passion to this vibrant dance and we are open to people of all abilities.
We have been running for 9 amazing years and have achieved so much within this time! We regularly perform and have succeeded in many competitions such as winning national talent competitions like Mehfil (in 2010 and 2014), competing in Capital Bhangra (2012) and reaching the finals in Sitaare (2015).
After a 4 year hiatus from national Bhangra competitions, Leeds Bhangra Society returned with a bang in 2016 and competed once again at TBCu competition. We wowed the audiences and the judges with our traditional sets. Have a peek! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k47nNDo4CzY
We love to share our enthusiasm and passion for this vibrant dance form with our brilliant weekly classes, which are free for all members. There is no need for any previous experience and we can assure you that it will be lots of fun whilst giving you a great workout!
Please note that comfortable clothing is a must which will allow movements. Also ensure that you also bring a bottle water and stay hydrated!
Classes this semester (October to December 2019) will be held every Thursday 8 pm in Sky Studio in the LUU.
Membership is only at £12/year which will provide access to classes the whole year.
Our classes are also open for non-members with £3/class which can be bought at the door.
