What we’re all about
Korfball is the only mixed-gender team sport in the world and is unlike most sports you have played before. It offers the chance for men and women play together on equal terms and the game encourages teamwork and cooperation. It is a growing sport around the world, as well as in the UK, so the club have plenty of opportunities to play fun, competitive matches in numerous different locations home and abroad. Although Korfball might look like basketball or netball, it is a unique, exciting and challenging sport for athletes and novices at all levels.
Our training sessions take place on Wednesdays from 5PM-7PM and Thursdays from 7PM-8PM at the Edge Sports Hall 1.
Our club tries to offer the biggest variety of socials of any LUU club or society and aims to provide at least one every two weeks when possible. This ranges from the more full-on socials such as themed Otley Runs chosen by club members (e.g. cops and robbers, anything but clothes) to more activity-based socials such as bowling, usually followed by one of Leeds' many insane club nights. After every Wednesday training session we also go to Old Bar at the SU to give everyone a chance to have a mid-week catch-up.
Membership costs £25 making this club one of the most affordable sports societies at the University. At this extremely reasonable price we encourage as many people to try it for a month or so of training sessions and socials as we promise you won't look back. Even if the club isn't right for you, the membership is only the equivalent of a couple of pints a week for the month you attend and you can at least say you braved something new and different.
