Leeds is a very safe city; however, as with any big city, it’s important you do the little things that can help keep you, and your friends safe.
As a new student you’ll probably be living in one of the many halls around the city. This accommodation is often second to none for safety; nonetheless you still have to be vigilant. Always remember that if something looks wrong, it probably is. Here are our 3 top tips about keeping your stuff safe in Halls:
- Rule Number 1: Lock Up - Make sure your windows are shut and your doors are locked when you’re out of the room – it only takes a few seconds for an opportunist burglar to take something through an open window.
- Rule Number 2: Immobilise – register your property on www.immobilise.com. It means that if your property ever gets stolen, the Police have a greater chance of returning it to you – and it’s FREE!
- Rule Number 3: Look Out – Keep an eye on who’s behind you when you go into your halls: if they don’t look very student-y, report it to the subwarden.
