Getting Home
Bus
There are several bus companies with bus routes in and around Leeds. The biggest company is First Leeds, who offer 60 routes throughout Leeds and are a great option to deliver you home.
Students can buy a monthly, term time, or annual bus pass in advance, or simply pay around £1.60-£2.00 for a journey. Remember to show the driver your student ID when purchasing a ticket to get a discount.

First Bus does not have services that run after 12:00 am, so if you are journeying later than this look at the options below to decide how best to travel home.
Taxi
Use a registered taxi service to deliver you straight to your front door.
We have a partnership with local taxi service, Amber Cars. If you have no money, simply call Amber Cars and quote ‘Student Safe Taxi Scheme’. A car will be sent as a priority to your location, where you must hand the driver your student ID. Three days later you should visit the Student Union to pay the fare and collect your ID.
Call Amber Cars on this number: 0113 202 2117
The ‘Student Safe Taxi scheme’ doesn’t run 24 hours a day – you will only be able to use it if it’s after dark and you don’t have money to get home. If you don’t need to use this scheme, it’s well worth downloading the Amber Cars app anyway, so you can pay for your taxi even when you don’t have cash.
Alternatively, many students use taxi apps such as Uber or Bolt which can also be downloaded on the app store.
Safe Zone App
Whilst this isn’t a transport option, it’s important that you are aware of the SafeZone app. With this app you can call for help if you are in trouble or feeling unsafe. The app allows you to share your location with the University security team who will help.
Download this app on the Google Play or Apple store.
After you have downloaded the app, enter your University of Leeds email address, put in your telephone number, and click sign up.
After this, you will have access to the Emergency call, Non-Urgent telephone line, and First Aid call.
