How do I write a nomination?
To nominate someone, click the link below! You will be asked to write why you’re nominating this person. Nominations vary in length but all you need to do is write about why your nominee deserves an award – what have they done that has made such a big impact on your time in Halls.
The winners of the awards are selected on the following grounds:
- The extent to which their nomination demonstrates the award category description

Below are some examples of previous nominations to give you a bit more of an idea:
Best event:
“The Hall Exec organised a fantastic Easter Egg Race at Oxley Hall on 24th March. A lot of work was put into organising this event, which consisted of 12 challenges, including riddles, Easter egg decorating challenge, pie-eating contest, best Easter bunny selfie challenge, read an Easter greeting in a foreign language challenge, find the blue egg in a box of slime challenge, best Caption This challenge, find the missing Hall Exec member challenge, etc. There was a challenge for every interest. Everything took hours to prepare, but it all paid off as students in Oxley had great fun!”
Contribution to student wellbeing:
“ As Wellbeing Rep at Devonshire Hall, [Name] has made sure that her presence is known to the other students if they should need someone to talk to. [Name] has organised events such as a visit from the university wellbeing dog and also pumpkin carving at halloween time giving students an opportunity to socialise outside of an academic setting. [Name] has also partaken in the Dev musical which was above and beyond her call of duty.”
Exceptional RLA of the Year
“During her two years at Leodis as a (RLA), [Name] has had a number of difficult situations to deal with. She has dealt with students with mental health conditions with tact, patience and warmth. When we have a serious incident she is always calm, asks the right questions and always has the full story to be able to relay. She can always be relied upon. Throughout a range of challenging scenarios [Name] has offered an effective & calm presence on site. It goes without saying that she performs the ‘day to day’ duties of being a (RLA) well. [Name] has worked well within the (RLA) team who appreciate her flexible approach & cheerful manner. She is always prepared to be helpful when people need to swap shifts and she acts as a sounding board for the team when there are issues. She is always prepared to speak up when there are difficult issues to deal with. Equally, she has integrated fantastically well with the site team who are always pleased to see her. They trust her with issues to deal with and pass on details such as unhappy/ upset students if they see him during the day. The Security Guards are always pleased to know when it is [Name] on call.”
RLA team of the year:
“The individual members of the team this year have all excelled in their own right but their combined work has been even better. Their team work at the start of term to provide ice-breaker events and a warm welcome to Charles Morris was outstanding and they put in many extra hours to deliver social activities in the critical first two weeks. They have worked as a team to support individual students with significant and challenging issues, always handing over good briefings, ensuring our residents felt comfortable and able to reach out to them for support. They have identified which sub-warden can best support particular students based on their shared understanding of each other’s strengths and they have worked brilliantly with the night staff in hall, always updating and sharing what’s going on.”
