Rock climbing, Ice climbing, scrambling, hill walking; we dabble in a bit of everything!
Whether you've scaled the Eiger or have never even seen a mountain before, you'll fit right in, we're a friendly bunch.
We go to the Leeds Wall on Monday evenings and Wednesday afternoons, to The Edge on Thursday evenings and attempt to regulary visit the indoor bouldering centre in Pudsey and venture outdoors on the weekends. The society welcomes you whether you come to climb once a month or up to five times a week!
Weekend trips are organised to Northumberland, Wales and the Lake and Peak Districts as well as more local places for days out. Transport and accommodation (and most food!) are included in the price of club trips.
For the more adventurous, self planned trips go to Pembroke and Skye (we just do the transport)
Easter trips usually head off to go bouldering in Fontainbleau and sport climbing in El Chorro
Bring a sense of adventure and meet us down the pub, Wednesdays around 9pm at the Packhorse (opposite Civil Engineering). Alternatively, have a look at our Facebook page (search LUUMC - Leeds University Mountaineering Club) for regular info updates and details of who to contact if you have any questions.
Luumc prides itself in being incredibly social, as tradition very early in the year we hold our first Otley Run to welcome all of our new members, celebrate Christmas with our annual Caley and get all dressed up for the end of year formal. In addition to this we have been known to hold some pretty (un?)memorable house parties!
We are a BMC (British Mountaineering Council) affiliate club. Third party insurance is covered in the cost of membership for all outdoor activities throughout the year. If you already have BMC insurance, come and speak to a committee member as we may be able to offer you discounted membership.
Should you be running a social, check out the guidelines for events you run.

You can join clubs and societies any time of year. If you're thinking of joining late on in the year you might want to contact the society first to find out what activity they've got planned.
The majority of memberships last for one year - these will expire at the end of the coming August. In some cases groups offer reduced membership for a single semester or a longer term memberships. This will be clearly stated when you're choosing which to add to your basket.
Joining a society is easy - in most cases it only takes a few minutes!
