Welcome to Leeds University Gymnastics Club!
Come and see why we were awarded Most Improved Sports Club of 2014-15 by LUU!
We are a really good group of friends who all love doing some sort of gymnstics/ tricking (doing random flips in the air) at Leeds. Our coaches and equipment mean that its fit for all abilities, for those who have seen a trick they really wanna learn, or to just get fit in a unique way, its all catered for at our gym. Competitions are encouraged if you want to challenge yourself, but it's a really relaxed vibe in our sessions and you can push yourselves as much or as little as you want. Although when you've learnt one trick its hard to stop. Take a look at our video to see whats on offer and why this isn't just a girly sport as most lads think...
We train at Leeds Gymnastics Club, the home of many high performance gymnasts, which contains an impressive array of equipment for both male and female gymnasts, as well as a tumble track, fast track and giant foam pits. This means that experienced gymnasts can practice their skills across every apparatus whilst there is every opportunity for beginners to have a go and learn cool new skills!
Make sure you look out for us at the Freshers Fair, where we will have a stand, and make sure you come and talk to us so you don't miss out on the exciting opportunities LUU Gymnastics offers! If you are too hungover in freshers week to make the fair, then our give it a go session is the 28th of September (gives you enough time to recover from freshers) and then again on the 2nd of October. Make sure you go to as many GIAG's as you can so you get a taste for what clubs suit your personality as univerisity is all about trying new things and making as many friends as possible in different places... as well as studying of course. So make sure gymanastics is top of your list to try out!
We train twice at Leeds Gymnastics Club in Seacroft, training sessions take place on:
We meet half an hour before each session at the Parkinson Building and we will organise transport from there, so don't worry about getting to training!
Contrary to popular belief, gymnastics does not have to be learnt from three years old or a purely female sport, even if you cant handstand, we can teach you and before you know it you'll be flipping. Our qualified coaches lead the two weekly sessions at Seacroft. Our main focus is on men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics, but we welcome all types of gymnastics including acrobatic, tumbling, free running, rythmic, areobic etc.
We compete both men’s and women’s teams in various competitions throughout the year, with the main event being the BUCS Championships. These competitions are a great way to show off what youve been practicing over the year and have finally mastered, it's also a great way to have a laugh with friends and enjoy the sport in a different environment. Don't worry, we don't take ourselves too seriously at competitions!. We often stay over night near where we are competing so for those who are just wanting to come and check out the competion you wont be bored.
Membership for the year is £45
