What we’re all about
At Disability Action Society, we aim to provide a safe and friendly way of meeting other disabled students and those with an interest in promoting equality, diversity and accessibility at University of Leeds. We are completely student-run and we don't ask you to commit to certain responsibilities or even turning up regularly- our coffee sessions are always free and everyone is always welcome!
Coffee and Chat
Starting in October, we host weekly a 'Coffee and Chat' on Wednesdays at 4pm in Room 5 (level 2) of the LUU. Free hot drinks (not just coffee!) and biscuits are provide, with supplies that cater to all major food allergies and intolerances (and perfectly happy to cater to any other dietary requirements). Come and join us for discussions about disability and the social model, rants about barriers or just normal chit chat about university and the weather!
We also host a monthly craftivism session starting on the 25th October (same time and place as 'coffee and chat'). Craftivism is a relaxing form of activism through creating. Our first session will involve making multi-sensory felt hearts and origami leaves to go on our 'solidary-tree'. All of our craftivism sessions are free and open to all levels of ability - regardless of impairment, you will always be able to take part!
