What we’re all about
Costume Society is a brand new society as of 2016/17. We are mainly a collaborative society and we aim to provide the costumes for the performance societies in their various shows throughout the year. This involves buying, renting and making costumes. We are also involved in hair and makeup for shows when a show requires this.
So if you have an interest in costuming, makeup, designing or hair then we'd love to have you, no sewing skills needed!
If you'd like to get involved you can join the society here or register your interest by signing up. This is the best way to hear about show opportunities as well as all of our socials.
What we do
So far we have held a number of socials including our formation event, which was a Halloween themed costume competition!
We have also been involved in a number of different shows:
- Theatre Group's "Trainspotting"
- Open Theatre's "The Structural Integrity of a Peach"
- MT's "Little Shop of Horrors"
- Panto's "A. ladd. in. Leeds"
- Opera's 'Don Giovanni'
Throughout the rest of the year we aim to be involved in more upcoming shows, as well as start holding costume workshops! We will hold workshops where our members can learn various new skills. If you have any specific costuming/hair/makeup techniques you'd like to learn then feel free to send us an email and maybe that will be one of our future workshops! We are very open to suggestions and ideas. We also aim to have a community where we can teach each other skills so if you have any background knowledge and think you could run a workshop then we'd love to hear from you!
We also have a Luu Costume Society blog, so if your interest in costume is more literal, then feel free to put pen to paper and get involved with out blog, all participation is welcome!
If you'd like more information then please do get in contact.
We can't wait to hear from you!
