American game that is played between two teams of 11 players each and in which the ball is moved forward by running or passing. The team is split between offence, defence and special teams. The aim of the offence is to move the ball at least 10 yards over four downs until the get to the end zone; the aim of the defence is to stop them. At the BUCS level, the game is played over four 12 minute quarters. The game is divided up into three tiers Premiership, Division 1 and Division 2. The Leeds Gryphons play in 'Division 1A Yorkshire and Lancashire'.
