Welcome to Theatre Group

Leeds University Union Theatre Group is one of the University’s longest established societies, formed in 1919.

This society is for those who are interested in all aspects of theatre, be it directing, producing, acting, lighting/sound design or just watching! We offer members the opportunity to participate in 8 shows across both semesters and the chance to perform at the Edinburgh fringe every year. We produce all kinds of theatre; specialising in scripted plays both by contemporary and classical playwrights. Last year we had a number of incredibly successful shows including ‘Education, Education, Education’, ‘Almost, Maine’, ‘The Trials', and ‘Rules for Living’.

Socials

We also hold weekly socials, and have both a Christmas and Summer Ball. We organise regular meetings and workshops in and around Campus and hold theatre trips and socials with our sister-society ‘Open Theatre’. We have fundraisers for each of our shows to help pay for set, costume, props etc.

All of our socials are advertised on our Instagram (@tgleeds) so check us out over there for more info! If you have any ideas, make sure to email us at luutheatregroup@gmail.com or DM us on our Instagram!

Membership

We offer two different memberships, as we collaborate with Open Theatre society for some of our events and certain show tickets, we offer a joint membership at a reduced price of £9. Or we offer an individual membership at the price of £6. Getting a membership not only enables you to obtain discounted tickets for our shows, but also saves you money on the Christmas drinks and Summer Ball.
