Give it a go
We will be holding three Give It A Go (GIAG) sessions throughout the academic year. These events provide a taster for potentially new or interested members and provide a much greater insight into the weekly sessions itself. We plan to hold our first GIAG Pool session on the 19th October. Our second Pool GIAG will be later on in Semester 1. And our third GIAG, this time Snooker, will take place during semester 2. Such sessions provide a fantastic opportunity to meet new people and integrate with current members in our society early in the year.
Sessions
Our Pool and Snooker training sessions cater for members of all abilities! It doesn’t matter whether you have been playing for years or starting out as a beginner, anybody can join our society and take part.
Pool training sessions will take place on Monday evenings from 6:45-9:45pm, costing £4 for members and £6 for non-members. In these sessions, you can play either English pool (8 ball) or American pool (9 ball). These nights have a fun and friendly atmosphere, with games and competitions such as Killer pool and other group-based activities, it is a fantastic way to meet new people and make friends.
Snooker sessions take place every Wednesday afternoon from 3-6pm and cost £5. In these sessions, you can casually play against other members in our society and have access to our professional coach. He will be able to teach you the fundamental aspects of the game and help improve your technique.
Tournaments
The society at the University of Leeds have enjoyed huge success over the last few years at both regional and national tournaments. The club are welcoming all new members to join our competitive team in attending competitions up and down the country. We will also be holding our regional 9 ball tournament this November and are always looking for new people to get involved. We attend around ten tournaments throughout the year for both Pool and Snooker so there is always the opportunity to travel with the team and represent the University competitively.
Social
Additionally, throughout the year, the society will be hosting regular subsidised events. The socials are a fantastic opportunity to meet new people who are involved in the society in both a relaxed and very sociable environment. Ranging from paint-balling to go-karting, there a number of events every month for all of our members to attend.
Due to the current situation with COVID-19, in person socials are not permitted. We will however continue to organise meetups online, on our new Discords server.
