SIGN-UP
‼️ SUPER IMPORTANT ‼️ Please DO NOT PAY for membership or classes until we have confirmed that you have a space (this includes previous members).
The steps you should follow are listed below:
- Please fill in this google form to sign-up for classes: https://forms.gle/61sR8jywcDsvhRue9
The form will be released on Monday the 21st of September and you must complete this before Friday the 25th of September at 9am.
This is not first-come first-serve; you just have to complete it before the deadline, so please take your time!
You still have to do this even if you are already a member – we re-allocate classes every year to make it as fair as possible!
We will allocate you to a class (Open/Intermediate/Advanced) based on your previous dance experience. - Join our Google Meet: https://meet.google.com/roy-apsy-xzh
If you have any questions at all, please join our Google Meet at 9:00am on Tuesday the 22nd of September!
This will be like a virtual freshers fair, so feel free to pop in and out at any time during our slot (9-9:45am). This seems a bit daunting but please don’t be shy, we are excited to meet you all! - Wait patiently for your confirmation email…
This will let you know which classes you have recieved and all the extra details you need to know.
Any classes that you signed up for but did not get a place in, you will automatically be placed on the waiting list.
We really advise you to check the box to be a ‘virtual member’ which allows you to participate in classes even whilst on the waiting list! (Don’t worry! This will not affect whether you are given a face-to-face class)
- Classes begin!
Our classes are due to begin the week commencing 28th of September. If you have been allocated a class then feel free to treat the first class as a trial run.
Membership and class fees will be due at the end of the first week of classes, so you will need to decide by then.

COMPETITIONS

We take our insane competition team to compete against some of the best dancers in University competitions across the country, which of course involves a weekend away! We also host our very own competition – Let’s Dance, which has grown in size over the years, and is now a huge event involving 9 different Universities! It literally gets bigger and better every year! Modern Dance also enters LUU Intercomp, which is a chance to compete with the other Leeds University dance societies!
If you are an enthusiastic, confident and experienced dancer we would love to have you on our competition team! OUR ANNUAL SHOWCASE

In 2019 we hosted our first LUU Modern Dance Showcase for all members of the society to perform to their famiy and friends. This has been so successful over the past two years, as it’s an amazing opportunity for all our members to bond during classes! Everyone in the society will get a chance to perform with their classes, as well as solos, duets and trios! Our showcase will take place on Sunday the 9th of May 2021, in Pyramid Theatre – so save the date!
As well as our own show we also take part in the LUU Dance Showcase which involves all of the Leeds University Dance Societies! This is a great opportunity to showcase our styles within the society as well as perform alongside some other amazing dancers.

SOCIALS

As much as we love dancing, we can’t say no to our weekly socials! These are chances to get together, meet people from different classes, and make some amazing memories!! In previous years, we’ve been on some wild society nights out, had dress-up socials, pizza nights, Otley runs and so much more – we guarantee a fab night!
This year thing’s will look a little different due to the pandemic, but our Social Secs have been planning some fun virtual socials, as well as our new Modern Dance Family scheme, which willl help you bond with those in your classes!
One of the biggest events of the year is our LUU Dance Ball. A time to get together with all the other dance societies, dress to impress, and have the most incredible evening!
