Do I need to be strong to do jiu jitsu?
No! Jiu Jitsu is more about using your opponent’s strength and momentum against them to produce maximum effect.
Is it gender specific?
NO! Anyone can do Jiu Jitsu, and at the LUU club there is an equal ratio of both genders. We also have male and female instructors.
Do I need to be physically fit?
Not to start with, but as you train regularly your fitness will increase.
Do I need to have done any martial arts before?
No, many of our beginners have no previous martial arts experience.
Does it hurt when we get thrown?
No! One of the first things you’ll learn is how to fall in a way that doesn’t hurt.
