Training
Our classes are focused on enjoyment and member satisfaction whist learning all 10 dances. Lessons will be taking place via zoom for our first semester, starting on 01/10/2020 and the schedule is as follows:
Every Thursday:
7-8pm Beginners, this will be for any new members who haven’t danced before and fancy giving Ballroom and Latin a go!
8-9pm Specific routine lesson, this will be open to dancers of all levels. Each week a specific dance will be taught, eg. Jive, Cha Cha Cha, Rumba etc
9-10pm Novice+, this lesson will focus mainly on technique related to the routine taught in the lesson before
All of these lessons will be taught with the knowledge that people will have limited space available so please don’t stress. Just ensure that you’ve got a tidy room so that you don’t trip over anything!
This means that everyone has access to two hours of teaching per week, costing just £5 per week, or you can pay for the whole semester upfront for just £40.
We also have private lessons via zoom available almost anytime of the week costing £30 per hour for a couple, £25 per hour for one individual, and £40 per hour for a group of four.
Socials
We are a keen participant of the annual LUU Dance Show. Each year we aim to hold a Christmas and Spring Ball even if that means hosting them virtually!
Socials are always on the cards including Bowling, Otley runs and BBQs. We are working hard to keep the group activities going ahead this year and have a lot of plans to help new members get to know each other despite the fact that they won’t be spending much time together in person.
We aim to cater for everyone, so any ideas you may have just speak to our Social Secretaries.
Membership and Lesson Prices
Our annual membership costs just £15. This allows for subsidised private tuition discount, subsidised Dancesport Ball tickets and access to weekly practice space. One thing we ask is that, to compete, and take part in our lessons you MUST be a member of the club.
Equipment
If you’ve never danced before and worry you don’t have any of the clothing or shoes, don’t worry. At competitions all dresses for women are provided for with a range of sizes and styles we can cater to most dancers. The society also does a big shoe order, a great and affordable way to get yourself a pair of ballroom/latin shoes.
