COVID-19
We are working hard to ensure that we can still run events this year and are putting measures in place to keep everyone safe! Please follow our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.
Aim
Our aim is to help conserve and maintain the natural environment in the local area; this can involve anything from chopping down invasive trees and planting native species, to creating micro-habitats or maintaining our pond and paths.
Trips away
We also organise trips throughout the year to help out conservation groups across the UK. These included going to the Peak District, the Yorkshire Dales and Flamborough Head. The annual trip to the Peak District comprises of a fun weekend spent in the beautiful countryside, working alongside the local rangers to clear, chop and protect the natural environment, usually culminating in the building of a great big bonfire! The trips are both rewarding and a great way to meet new people.
Socials
LUUCV also organise regular social events, which include Otley runs, games nights, environmental film/documentary screenings and nature walks!
A few highlights from the last year 2019/20 included:
- Working with local organisations such as WRAG, Friends of Meanwood, Friends of the Hollies and the RSPB
- Film screenings and socials
- A trip to the Peak District in early December
- Lots of conservation work in Leeds’ many green spaces
…and much more!
