Celebrating Students in 2022

Why we're celebrating
The past 2 years have been extremely tough for communities across the globe, with students facing a unique set of challenges as they adapted to online learning, disrupted living arrangements and diminished social lives.
But that hasn’t stopped them getting stuck into student life, achieving big things and making a difficult times that bit better for their fellow students. We celebrate the achievements of our students every year, but in 2022 that’s even more important as we acknowledge the challenges overcome to get there.
With awards to honour clubs and societies, LUU’s sportspeople, halls of residence and the staff and students who have gone above and beyond, this spring we’ll be celebrating the people and initiatives that make Leeds so brilliant – and we want you to get involved. Whether that’s nominating a friend, show up or tuning in for the ceremonies, you can find everything you need to know below.
The Partnership Awards
The Partnership Awards celebrate the achievements of staff and students who embody the values of The Leeds Partnership through their teaching, projects, and behaviour. With 13 categories ranging from mentoring to innovation – as well as an overall award presented to a person or group who have had an exceptional impact – the awards are a wonderful opportunity to discover and celebrate the inspiring work of our staff and students.
The Partnership awards took place 9 May – check out the winners here.

The Riley Awards

With more than 300 clubs and societies doing great things here at LUU, the Riley Awards – which celebrate the very best of our student groups – are a pretty big deal. Often nicknamed the LUU Oscars, these prestigious awards are presented to the clubs and societies that represent everything that’s great about students at the University of Leeds.
We brought back Society Stars in the lead up to the Riley Awards 2022, highlighting the wonderful work of our clubs and societies at LUU.
The Rileys 2022 took place on April 29, check out the Award Winners here.
The Halls Awards
The Hall Awards are a celebration of the incredible students, Residence Life Assistants (RLAs) and Hall Execs that have contributed to their accommodation community by providing events, opportunities and support to their neighbours.
We want to hear from you about the people that have made a difference to your time in halls, whether that’s the Hall Exec who put on that great event, the RLA that helped you through a difficult situation or the flatmate that made your year wonderful!
As well as a range of specific Hall Exec or RLA awards, for the first time you’ll also be able to nominate anyone in residences for the Halls Heroes award, to celebrate all the incredible things that halls students do on a daily basis. The halls experience is such a big part of University for so many students, and we’d love to hear from you about those who have made an impact on your time there.
The Halls Awards took place on 28 April, check out who you voted as your 2022 winners here.
The Gryphon Colours Awards
We have rebranded, from Sports Colours to The Gryphon Colours Awards. This change reflects the wide range of Gryphon clubs we have here at Leeds Sport, which includes not only sports clubs, but martial arts and outdoor groups too.
The Gryphon Colours Awards is our chance to celebrate the incredible efforts of our students, teams, volunteers, coaches and everyone involved in our Leeds Sport clubs. Whether they’ve been awesome on the pitch, or made a difference off it, this is your chance to say thanks and recognise them for their achievements.
The 2022 Gryphon Colours awards took place on May 11th – check out all the Award Winners here.
