Basketball (W)

What we’re all about

LUU Women's Basketball promote teamwork, friendship, passion, development and laughter for players who've been playing basketball for 15 years or 15 minutes. We offer plenty of opportunities for new players to learn the ropes, develop their skills and compete in our team. We also have exciting and vibrant socials, often with the men's team.

All of our information is regularly relayed through our Facebook page - University of Leeds Women's Basketball 2019/20. Please do not hesitate to join that or contact us through our email address with any queries.

Social Events

Wednesday nights go OFF for Women's Basketball. After a hard day balling we hit the Leeds night life dressed in outrageous outfits. Our highlights of the last year were our Christmas Otley run, our military mischief and bowling. We love our members to take part in the social side of our society as it is a great way for the team to bond and also to make a great group of supportive and encouraging friends.

LUU Women's Basketball 1st team compete in BUCS Basketball Women's Northern Tier 1A against Leeds Beckett University, Northumbria University, Sheffield Hallam, Manchester University and Bangor University.

We also compete in BUCS Basketball Northern Conference Cup.

Our newly established 2nd team will commence this year competing in BUCS Basketball Women's Northern Tier 2B against Newcastle 2's, Durham 2's, Sheffield, Hull, Durham 3's, York St John, Sunderland, York and Sheffield 2's.

Our games take place on Wednesdays at The Edge or away and we encourage any members of the University of Leeds community to come and support!

Give It A Go

If you're a beginner and want to try out the sport come along to our Give it a Go session. Anyone is welcome – we want as many women to try out the sport as possible because you don't know if you're good until you try.

Our Spring GIAG has already happened this semester! But, if you didn't manage to make it to our Give It A Go session you are more than welcome to come along to any of our normal trainings and see if you would like to join in. The cost will be £3 for any non-members. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates on training times!
