Referenda at LUU this May

In May, there will be two referenda (also known as referendums) taking place here at LUU. That’s because at our last set of Better Forums – our termly policy-making process – two proposals were made that split the panel’s vote, meaning that the decision must now be made by the wider student community.

A referendum is a form of direct – rather than representative – democracy,  with all students given the chance to vote directly on whether these proposals should be adopted as LUU policy or not. It’s the same process as how the UK decided to leave the European Union in 2016, just on a smaller, University-wide scale.
